He's Getting In Trouble For All The Right Reasons! For thirteen-year-old Nick Donner, it was worth getting into some trouble to match his mom, Lucy, with Judge Kincaid's son, Logan. Now Nick's doing community service at Logan's animal clinic, hoping he can bring the lovelorn loners together. For Lucy, keeping her son as the only "man" in her life was safer for her fragile heart. And Logan had had his share of women who tried to change a man and drag him to the Land of Commitment and Fatherhood. Still, neither of them could deny that nagging attraction…and since fate had brought them together, what harm could come of a little fling? Poor Lucy and Logan! They had no idea their matchmaker would leave nothing to chance…
Texas Ranger Jake Kearney was astonished to discover that the "Kid" Calhoun he stalked, the same outlaw who saved him from ambush, was a woman--and an irresistible one at that! Now Anabeth Calhoun was an unwilling captive of the flinty-eyed Ranger as they pursued a gang of cold-blooded killers . . . and a cache of stolen gold that had mysteriously disappeared. But the lawman's problems had only just begun. Fighting his desire for the outlaw he had sworn would not escape justice, Jake Kearney was soon torn between his duty . . . and his love. . . . Anabeth knew she had found her match in the rugged loner who taught her the joys of passion . . . while she taught him the exquisite perils of love. She also knew that Anabeth "Kid" Calhoun was one outlaw both willing and eager to fall into...
For those that live in a ranch-style home, use the basement stairs. Putting toys away may not apply here, but maybe they could help bring up laundry instead. I’m always looking for ways to get my kids more involved with the housework. It’s about the exercise, so do what you can to make things work. Safety is obviously a major factor to keep in mind, so an adult should always be present, especially with the little ones. Not only is this a great way to get moving, but it’s a tremendous way to spend time with the kids, too. Scatter couch cushions to jump on (use safe, stable surfaces). Set a broom across a couple chairs and have them climb over it and crawl under it. Grab some handheld weights that are light enough for them to lift and place them strategically around the house. Leave Post-It notes that require a certain number of jumping jacks, squat thrusts and sit-ups in each room. If the weather is decent, add in a lap or two of running around the house. Do a few reps of the same routine each day for a week, then next week switch it up a bit. Let the kids get in on determining the next course you make. We have spent countless hours playing this game over the years. Blow up a few balloons and divide a room in two with a piece of string or a few pillows. Play a modified game of volleyball. The balloon must make it to the other side of the string in three hits and absolutely cannot touch the ground. Score points as in a regular game. Loser has to do a set of jumping jacks before competing again. Grab a couple of brooms and turn the kitchen floor into your rink. Use a ping pong ball or cap from a milk bottle as your puck. Use doorways or set up pots to be the goals. Set the microwave timer for five minutes and play a few periods. Find a buzzer sound that you’d hear in real games and play it when a goal is scored. You’ll elicit giggles, smiles and all sorts of wonderfulness with the kids. Do the whip and nae nae with the kids, while you dab and juju on that beat. Your kids do. ) Find songs on YouTube, or more likely their iPod, and dance the night away. Get some music playing and work on one room at a time. Weed through their clothes and toys, especially those on the floor, so you can clear space to move things around. Let the kids grab the vacuum to clean things up before you shuffle things around. Have them help take out dresser drawers, if they’re able, to make the lifting part not so difficult. Move the furniture around and let them have a say in where things go. Then piece things back together as you see fit. This could also include spring cleaning activities such as wiping down the walls, washing windows and cleaning baseboards. A double-win … you’ve masked cleaning as a fun activity and the kids have a fresh new room to enjoy. This is no fun if the adults don’t play along. Head to the dress-up bin or kids’ closets and put together a ridiculous outfit for them to put on — complete with shoes, jewelry and other accessories. Once outfits have been selected, make a game out of it and see who can get dressed the fastest. Then meet in the living room for a photo op. Use a folded sheet for a runway. Set some empty water bottles or plastic jugs up as the pins and use a plastic ball or balled up pair of socks as the ball. Use masking tape to create your lane and to reset the pins. Then, have at it. Teach the kids how to keep score on paper, like we used to do. Physical activity and using one’s brain, too.
