Myriad of the ladies who were busy on a recent Saturday morning sewing, turning sewn garments right-side-out, ironing and threading drawstrings circa the tops of bags have trotted the world sharing the love of Jesus. They’ve been to the Dominican, Johannesburg, Honduras and India, and two are headed to Zambia this summer. But on this day their eyes were all on Tanzania and improving the lives of the junior women there. “Currently they have no way to go to school or go to work during that time,” he said. “The whole subject is taboo in Tanzania. They don’t talk about it when it’s that time of month for the girls. They (the girls) go into their bedroom or a backroom and they support there for those five days, and if they’re in school that means they miss five days of school, so eventually they are going to drop out. So when they drop out they are susceptible to being hurt, taken advantage of. Before you know it they are pregnant, so now they’re home cooking and taking care of babies. The group is raising money to buy eight sewing machines that they will evenly measure out between two Tanzanian villages. Of course, the sewing machines aren’t electric. they are the old-fashion treadle style that requires some foot power to m. The group then plans to teach the Tanzanian women to sew and make their own kits so even more women will get them. Rescuing a woman in Tanzania is amazingly shoddy. Each kit costs $25. It includes two shields, five liners, a bar of homemade soap, a washcloth, two zip-lock plastic bags and two pairs of underpants. That was another eye-opener for the Americans. The liners support in place with snaps designed to wrap around a girl’s underpants. Because most of the girls in Tanzania don’t have underpants, the mission-minded organization was forced to buy the undergarments – 400 pairs of them to be exact. Katelyn Jordan, an Anderson University student at home for spring separation, was one of the younger girls working at the mass sewing day, although she has other mission focuses. She and her mother will be going to Zambia at the same time the Longs are heading to Tanzania in June when the men arrange to train 50 pastors and the women will hold Bible schools for the kids. “We’re being the hands and feet of Jesus, literally using our hands,” she said of the most brand-new project referring to the Longs’ mission that they call Beautiful Feet Ministries. As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring profitable news. PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK. Don't Threaten. Don't knowingly lie about anyone or anything.
